How to Migrate Your Crypto to a New Recovery Phrase

Sometimes you need to move your crypto to a fresh recovery phrase — because your current one may have been compromised, or you can no longer find your saved copy.
This guide covers the full migration from start to finish.
There are two paths. Pick yours before you start:
One device? Follow Path A. Back up your old phrase, sign out, set up the new wallet, sign back in, send funds across.
Two devices (or two app instances)? Follow Path B. Much simpler — you keep both wallets open the whole time and transfer directly between them.
Both paths share the same preparation and wrap-up steps below.
TL;DR
Clean up the old wallet first, then follow Path A (one device) or Path B (two devices). Both end with the same wrap-up. Don't destroy your old recovery phrase until every asset has arrived.
Before you start — both paths
Complete these steps before moving any funds, regardless of which path you're on.
Step 1 — Claim your loyalty tokens
Claim any UnityWallet tokens earned through the Loyalty Program. Do this once for the whole wallet — you don't need to repeat it per sub-account.
Step 2 — Clean up every sub-account
Go through every sub-account — including archived ones. For each one:
Close any open Perps positions and withdraw the proceeds back to the wallet
Unstake any staked assets and initiate withdrawal — unbonding takes time, so note which ones and migrate those funds separately once they unlock
Withdraw any UnityWallet tokens on hold — note the cooldown expiry dates and come back once they expire
Close any DeFi positions via WalletConnect and withdraw funds back to the old address
Step 3 — Know the rules before you send anything
These apply to every single transaction in this guide:
Always verify the asset, network, and destination address before confirming — sending to the wrong address or the wrong network is irreversible
Copy addresses from the Receive screen only, never from transaction history, which can contain lookalike addresses planted by attackers
For extra safety, do a small test send first, wait for it to arrive, then send the rest
Make sure you have a small native gas token in each network you're using (Ethereum for ETH, Solana for SOL, and so on)
Path A — One device
Use this if you have one device with one app instance installed.
You will back up your old phrase, sign out, create the new wallet, collect its receiving addresses, sign back in, and send everything across.
A1 — Back up your current recovery phrase
Go to Settings → Security Center → Recovery phrase and tap Show. Write the phrase down carefully and store it offline — you'll need it in step A6.
If your phrase is concealed, the Show button won't appear. Instead, locate your existing offline backup and tap Validate to confirm it still matches what's in the app.
If you cannot find a valid backup, stop here. Either switch to Path B (which doesn't require the old phrase) or contact support.
A2 — Write down your inventory
You'll be signed out of the old wallet soon, so record everything now. For each sub-account write down:
The sub-account name
Each asset and its network — for example, Tether on ETH, or Solana on SOL
The network of any NFTs you want to migrate
This is the structure you'll recreate in the new wallet.
A3 — Create the new wallet
Go to Settings, scroll down, tap Sign out, then tap Create new wallet.
Back up the new recovery phrase immediately and store it safely offline before you do anything else.
A4 — Recreate your sub-account structure
Using your inventory from A2: create the same number of sub-accounts as in the old wallet, rename them to match, and activate every wallet on your list. For each NFT network, also activate the wallet for that network's native coin — this gives you a receiving address for those NFTs.
A5 — Collect receiving addresses for the new wallet
For each wallet in each sub-account: go to the Wallet tab → Receive and copy the address. Save it alongside the asset name, network, and sub-account name.
Double-check every address on your list before moving on.
A6 — Sign back in to the old wallet and send
Sign out, then sign back in using your old recovery phrase. Go through each sub-account and send every wallet's funds to the matching address from your list in A5.
For NFTs: connect to an external marketplace like OpenSea via WalletConnect and send each NFT to the new wallet's address on the correct network.
Once the old wallet is empty, jump to the After the transfer section.
Path B — Two devices
Use this if you have a second device, or a second app instance on the same device (for example, inside Private Space on Android).
We recommend this path whenever it's available. You never lose access to the old wallet, there's no signing out, and you can see both wallets side by side the whole time.
B1 — Set up the new wallet on the second device
On your second device or app instance, open the app and tap Create new wallet. Leave the original wallet completely untouched.
Back up the new recovery phrase immediately and store it safely offline.
B2 — Recreate your sub-account structure
With both instances open side by side: create the same number of sub-accounts as in the old wallet, rename them to match, and activate the same wallets. For each NFT network, activate the wallet for that network's native coin.
No written inventory needed — just compare the two instances as you go.
B3 — Send funds wallet by wallet
Work through one wallet at a time:
New instance: tap Receive and copy the address — or show the QR code if you have two physical devices
Old instance: tap Send, paste the address, and confirm
Wait for the funds to arrive in the new instance before moving to the next wallet
For NFTs: connect to an external marketplace like OpenSea via WalletConnect and send each NFT to the new wallet's address on the correct network.
Once the old wallet is empty, continue to the next section.
After the transfer — both paths
Once the bulk of your funds has arrived, come back for any that are still pending — unstaking withdrawals, UnityWallet cooldowns — and migrate those the same way once they unlock.
Do not destroy your old recovery phrase until you have confirmed that every single asset has arrived safely in the new wallet.
If anything looks wrong or unexpected, contact support before taking any further action.
